Last week for “The Plan” topic:

Posted in Jay's Blog, Q&A With Jay by Administrator on the May 28th, 2007

I’ve already answered 15 questions posted for this month’s topic, “The Plan.”  Now, I’m proud to announce that my brother Alan has also answered these 15 questions, and his responses can be viewed on this webpage:

In addition, I wanted to share some thoughts my family had about “The Plan” …

Eric wanted me to let everyone know that, “The Plan rocks and is groovy.”
Kandilyn said “The Plan” was the very first time she ever heard me sing.
Jason said, “The Plan was cool.”
And Marcus said, “Oh yeah, I remember that!”
I would like to compliment my brothers for their musicianship on the album. My sons didn’t know, until recently, that we also played the instruments on most of the songs.
This was a great topic, and I hope everyone found it interesting!
NOTE:  Please feel free to comment on Alan’s responses here on this week’s blog entry if you wish to.  We’ll be sure he sees your messages!

Thank You so much. The Plan had such an huge impact on my life and I thank you all for it. Dear Jay and Alan,

Thank you so much for your inspiring comments.
With his book ‘The Plan Revealed’, Merrill also gave
a clear explanation on all the songs.
It’s a great concept album, and will always be one
of my favourites! Let’s go for The Plan nr 2!!!

    Wishing you all the best!
Much love from your friend from Holland,

    Dear Jay and Alan,
Thankyou so much for this wonderful topic and answering my question about “The Plan”.
it had a massive impact on me, and at a time when I needed it most!
you will never know quite how much it “healed” me, when I was growing up, under very difficult circumstances, but rest assured it did!
in the last couple of years I have been blessed in meeting , you Jay, Jimmy, Wayne and Merrill, but not the pleasure of meeting you Alan, or Donny. I can wait! lol!
The reason I mentioned this was that I’d met 4 of my musical idols, and that even more, gave the plan, new depths for me!
love you all and Thanks for all the wonderful music…especially “The Plan”!

    Jay and Alan

This has indeed been a wonderful topic and so well thought out.

I have enjoyed reading what you have both had to say and found it very inspiring.

Although only 10 when the album was first released – I somehow understood the meaning and it has held me steadfast in many aspects of my life.

Thank you for taking the time to discuss it for us

    Dear Jay and Alan

I joined the Church of Latter Day Saints in my early teens, along with a friend who was into very different music to me! The Plan has always meant so much to me because of the beautiful truths within the lyrics. Recently I was called to be Relief Society President in our Ward, and my friend was called to be Relief Society Music Chair. She asked if we could use some music from the Plan as our music appreciation and my Counsellor was not too sure.

I understand that permission was not sought, nor necessary from the church leaders, but it is wonderful that President Lee thought that it was inspired – I will pass this on to my Counsellor. It was also lovely that my friend had been inspired to choose music from the Plan for music appreciation …. we often tease each other about our teen tastes and it was good to see that hers had improved :)

Thank you so much for your answers xx

    Dear Alan, Jay & family,
I have been a longtime fan of the Osmond family & just want to say that even after all these years, The Plan is still one of my all time favorite albums. I was happy to read the information/comments on this musical masterpiece. I have been lucky enough to share it with my 16 year old son and he loves it as well. I am looking forward to seeing Wayne, Merrill & Jay perform next week at the Wolf Den (maybe Alan as well??).
    God Bless you all!

    Hi Jay! Hi Alan!

This has been an AMAZING topic, the best yet!!

I have told Jay already about how angry I was with HIM for my illness when i was a teenager, but beng here with Jay and your Family Alan, has restored by Faith and I feel at peace with Him again, I understand many things now although they still hurt. I listen to “Are You Up There” and I feel peacefull although I weep everytime.
All through out the times when i was angry, i never took my Cross off.. sooooo that told me something.

I want to say Thank you so much for giving us the time to answer these extra questions. the answers are inspiring and thought provoking. We all knew it would be a great topic and one that we would have so many questions and even the ones we thought off after we posted :)

Can I just have a word in your ear Alan… Your little Bro here, has done good! He has given us this blog and his time, we talk to eachother here like buddies, and sometimes we disagree with eachother too. Be proud of him.

Well…as always… until we meet “Here’s looking at you kid” :)
    Love Phebes xx

    Hi Alan,

Thank you so much for giving your answers to these questions. It’s been wonderful to read about ‘The Plan’ from your viewpoint.
This is my favourite album and I’ve learnt so much from it over the years… it’s timeless.

I do hope that sometime the Rock Opera becomes a reality!

And I am very much looking forward to reading your book when it’s completed!!

    Take care, Zena x

Thank you Jay & Alan for your replies to our questions.

It helps us understand aspects of “The Plan” that were a little unclear before, though having read Merrill “The Plan Revealed” it is great to have another brother’s view.

Looking forward to reading both your books too!!

    God Bless

Thank you Jay and Alan – a lovely lady on the Osmond forum loaned me Merrill’s book a little while ago so it is wonderful to hear both your “take” on the Plan as well.
As Wendy says, look forward to reading both your books!
Am getting very excited about travelling over to Las Vegas in August.
    Take care,

    Dear Alan and Jay
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts and feelings with us. You are inspirational.
Alan back in the 70’s and 80’s I had several opportunities to meet you and your brothers and I always used to try and get close to you as you gave off an air of strength that I can’t quite explain but it felt good to be near. Reading your words has just brought that feeling back to me.
Jay thank you so much for this blog, it means a great deal.
Take care both and have a good week.
    Nicky xx

    Dear Alan and Jay,

This is an amazing album and I am so excited and proud of you on the recent release on itunes! I have always loved the positive message of the songs, although some of it didn’t become clear to me until I became a little older and did some research on LDS websites. I love you all so much and really would love to hear a “Plan II”.

    See you in Vegas!

    Dear Alan and Jay,

I too thank you for your response to the questions about The Plan. I am very curious about the three kingdoms you referred to. Seems the questions could go on for ever. Alan it is good to hear from you. Jay, as you know, we so appreciate your willingness to share with us through your question and answer. It is like a group of friends keeping in touch. Friends don’t always agree, but I think everyone here respects each other and we learn from each other. Isn’t that Great!

    Love to all

    Dear Jay and Alan,
Thank you so much for your insight to the lyrics on the Plan. I have enjoyed and grown spiritually by readying your replies to all the questions we have been asking. Your taking your valuable time to reply touches me. Thank you for the album, it was ahead of its time, like the song “Crazy Horses” talking about air pollution was before its time.
One more thing, I want to thank you for preparing me to accept the missionaries when they knocked on my door. Through your music and articles in teen magazines, I was ready to listen. I wanted to hear from the “horses mouth” what my fav group believe in. Thank you for all the years. I hope to meet all of you some day in person. Sincerely, Susan

    Dear Jay and Alan,
Thank you for the Plan and for taking your valuable time to answer all our questions. I thank your family for preparing me to hear the missionaries when they knocked at my door 30 years ago. Your music and articles in teen magazines prepared me for a life time of spiritual growth. Thank you,

    Dear Alan,
Since I haven’t found a way to email you on any of your sites I hope you don’t mind me taking this opportunity to tell you how special you are – I went to a fan club reunion (the 1st one) in Nashville many years ago – It was during Jay’s break from the group – I just wanted you to know that week was so special to me – You made me feel so special, like nobody in the room mattered but me, every time we were in the room together – Some other fans said I reminded them of somebody you knew and that was why I was so blessed with your attention – I don’t care – You made me feel like I could be your friend anytime we meet so I would never have to be nervous meeting you or any of your brothers or family – I was LDS then and now I am southern baptist – I chose to be removed from the roles – I still enjoy the message of The Plan and know the whether you are LDS, baptist or catholic, we are all CHRISTIAN and I believe we need to celebrate our common link on Jesus Christ rather than focus on our differences – I believe The Plan has messages for all denominations who follow the plan of life – Thank you for the answers to the questions – Do you think you could ask Merrill to get his book reprinted so more of us can buy it? I heard it sold out very fast

I just wanted to say “Thank You” to Jay and ALL your family. From the day I was born…and place in my play pen in the living room in March of 1962…your voices have filled my life. I know I will never meet any of you personally. I look forward to seeing the 50 year celebration on PBS. May the Lord richly bless you all…for that has what you’ve been to me and my little life here on planet earth. I hope you all get “plugged” in for one live jamm session when you tape the show in Vegas…Jay on his drums, Merrill on his bass…Wayne & Allen on guitars…and roll out the old upright with lights and all for Donny. Show the young kids of today what good old rock and roll is really about…having a blast with your brothers on stage. Peace and love from Barbie in Florida

    Dearest Jay and Alan

Thank you so much for sharing some of your thoughts about “The Plan”; although I don’t share your beliefs I still find so much to intrigue as well as entertain me when I listen to your songs.

Merrill’s book about “The Plan” had me entralled too; any chance of Wayne being asked for his thoughts?

I’ve been a bit “out of the loop” recently – dodgy computers and helping my family with an avlanche of problems – but I am really looking forward to seeing you Jay (with Jimmy and Wayne too of course) at Petworth house next month.

    With love and hugs

    Julie xxx
